How will the technologies evolve and develop?  What degree of engineering will be involved in their implementation?  How will the masses of new logistical data provided by intelligent packaging solutions like RFID be synchronized and processed?  The potential of new solutions to increase package security and functionality will, in the short term at least, undoubtedly add to the cost of package production.  Will the increased costs be borne by the brand owners, retailers, package converters or the consumer?
